Our White Wood Marble quarry

This is where White Wood Marble begins — our own quarry in Anlong County, Guizhou province, in the heart of a karst limestone region. We control the block from quarry to finished slab, giving us direct oversight of grain consistency and quality from the very first cut.

The story of this stone

Guizhou White Wood Marble comes from Anlong County, Guizhou — a region shaped by karst limestone geology, with extensive cave systems and rock formations that have made the area a source of building stone for generations. Local builders have used this same limestone for curbstone, house foundations and even stone bridges, some of which are still standing and in use after a century of weather and traffic.

Geologically, the stone is a dolomitic limestone, formed over a long period of mineral deposition that produced its distinctive parallel banding — fine, even lines running through a soft grey-white background, closely resembling the grain of natural timber. Anlong County's deposits are unusually large: this district holds more than 80% of the world's known reserves of this particular wood-grain limestone type, which is why we're able to commit to long-term, large-volume supply for major projects without concern for depletion.

We quarry the block ourselves, which means we control grain direction and consistency from the moment the stone is cut from the mountain — rather than buying blocks second-hand from a trader — and we can plan each block's cutting toward vein cut or cross cut depending on what a project calls for.

Beyond White Wood Marble

Alongside our own White Wood Marble quarry, we work with partner quarries producing related wood-grain colourways from the same broader region.

Grey wood grain

A cooler-toned wood-grain marble, quarried from a partner site producing the same style of natural linear veining in a deeper grey background.

Coffee wood grain

A warmer, brown-toned wood-grain marble from a partner quarry, offering the same grain movement in a richer colourway.

Athens wood grain

A soft beige wood-grain marble from a partner quarry, sitting between the grey and coffee tones for a warmer neutral option.

About White Wood Marble

Guizhou White Wood Marble is one of the best-known natural stones from the "Qian" (Guizhou) wood-grain stone family, recognised for its natural timber-like veining, soft grey-white tone, and radiation-free, environmentally sound composition.

Finishes & applications

White Wood Marble is finished differently depending on the design style and application it's intended for.

FinishVisual effectTypical applications
Polished Bright and glossy, with rich colour depth and a soft reflective sheen Five-star hotel lobbies, luxury villa interior walls and floors, columns and shaped decorative features
Honed / matte A fine, satin-like texture with no reflection — a quieter, grey-toned aesthetic Modern minimalist or Nordic-style kitchen countertops, bathroom feature walls, shower floor tiles (improved slip resistance)
Other finishes (acid-washed, antiqued, etc.) A textured, uneven surface with a strong sense of history and depth Commercial-space medallions and inlay work, decorative pieces, stair treads and skirting
